When life gives you lemons…….. On a recent Guild demo I decided to forge a newly cut frog pattern. I’d never forged that pattern before and, in fact, I had already changed the pattern to leave more material for the legs and toes. Shortly into shaping it both the front legs fell off. I continued shaping the form and working out how I’d do it next time. When I got home I pulled out the MIG and did surgery. (Yes I could have gotten fancy and forge welded them back on, but I didn’t)
The point of this post is; In blacksmithing you are constantly learning and constantly failing but the main difference between good and great blacksmiths is time at the anvil.
